The Joe Hale Chair in Regenerative Agriculture will manage the full array of farmer training activities, both in the field 和 the classroom. 牧师. 艾伦D. 史密斯 serves as the advisor for strategic initiatives at KWU, including providing insight 和 counsel to the 社区应变中心 team. He has served as senior pastor of the 300-member St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church in Salina for more than 23 years. His passion for a just 和 sustainable food system was formed by his academic pursuit of a degree in agricultural economics 和 his significant work with social impact organizations in the Salina community. St. John’s is a partner with KWU in the Kansas Rural Center’s Food Corridor project that is working to address food insecurity in Central Kansas by building a resilient food system that is accessible to all.

He serves regionally as the moderator of Smokey Hill District for the Missionary Baptist State Convention of Kansas 和 is the national director for the fight against human trafficking for National Baptist Convention USA Incorporated.

Regenerative Agriculture Farm Instructor
亚历山大 joined the 社区应变中心 in March of 2024. 作为第七代堪萨斯人, he is thrilled to be working with farmers 和 future farmers in the Sunflower State. He served in the Marine Corps from 2014 to 2018 和 has a BA in humanities with a minor in writing from Kansas State. He is currently pursuing an MFA in creative writing at Wichita State. He completed a course in hydroponics at Archi’s Institute for Sustainable Agriculture 和 is a graduate of the Rodale Institute’s Veteran Farmer Training Program.
